Food in Naldehra
When it comes to the food, Himachal contains a lot of yoghurt in its cuisine. This includes meats cooked in yoghurt gravy and other traditional methods like Khatta Ghosht and Murgh Anardana. You must start your meals with the Khoru soup, which is rich in Naldehra flavours. Khoru is a yoghurt soup garnished with coriander leaves. Its rich flavour comes from the mix of cumin, jaggery and poppy seed bread. This unusual mélange of flavours is a must try. The Naldehra resort’s vegetarian menu includes Madra, an extremely popular dish. This dish consists of thick yoghurt gravy. Majority of people prepare it in Himachal’s traditional function ‘Dhaam’. This Himachali cuisine is paired best with rice. Khatta Ghosht is meat cooked in yoghurt gravy until it becomes juicy and tender. It is a main course enjoyed with flat bread or rice. Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, this temple is situated at an altitude of 8048 feet above sea level near the highest point of Shimla ridge. It offers a panoramic view over the surrounding valleys, out to the snowcapped peaks, and over the town itself. The temple is a 45 minute walk from the ridge; one can also hire a pony or taxi to visit the temple. Narkanda offers wonderful slopes for skiing. At an elevation of 2708 m, it has dense pine forests. Hatu Peak, 8 km from Narkanda, provides a striking panorama of the plains below. Narkanda also offers spectacular views of snow ranges. The ancient temple of Hatu Mata comes alive with skiers. If you wish to go trekking, Shali Peak is your goal. It is situated among the forests of Naldehra on a block of rocky trails ideal for trekking. At an altitude of 2510 m above sea level, it is a site offering some famous hikes and wonderful snow for skiing in winters. An enjoyable walk leads up to the Mahasu Peak. The Great Himalayan National Park in Kullu is a heritage site since June 2014. It focuses on the well-being of endangered plant and animal species. You must do your bit by visiting this enchanting place and taking important lessons on saving our planet. Housed in the former Viceregal Lodge, it was built in 1888. The style of architecture is English Renaissance, the masonry of the walling is light blue limestone and the wrought stonework is done in sandstone in a beautiful light grey tint. It has magnificent lawns. The entry in the institute is by ticket and the grounds are open for public only on Sundays.
