Ratnadurga fort is one of the main attractions of Ratnagiri and shouldn't be missed if you are visiting Ratnagiri.Surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides, the horseshoe shaped Ratnadurg Fort was built to protect the coast from the pirates on the sea. Originally constructed by the Bahamani Sultans, the fort was captured by Shivaji, and continued to be one of his strongholds for a long time.
