Festivals in Manali
Though celebrated across India, Dussehra in the hills is celebrated with the vigor it took the gods to mark the triumph of good over evil. The week long ceremony is celebrated in the month of October to pay tribute to Lord Rama's victory over Ravana. If you are in the mood for adventure, head to Jagatsukh which is an excellent trekking base. While the drive to Jagatsukh is itself a memorable experience, the place is an important hindu pilgrim destination as well. You could do easy one day hikes around Jagatsukh and whilst there, also explore the caves of Arjun and the Gaurishankar temple. The Solang Valley is popular for its annual skiing courses.
